Letters [manuscript]. 1825.

A letter written, in diary form, by Townsend to his parents between 24.6.1825 and 30.8.1825 describing the voyage of the ship York, bound for Australia and carrying the Chief Agent of the Australian Agricultural Company R. Dawson, as far as Rio Tanerio [sic]. In his description of the voyage, Townsend is chiefly concerned with the passengers and crew and with the quarrels which arose during the weeks at sea. Enclosed with this letter was a copy of Townsend's letter to I. Moncrieff Captain of the York complaining of his treatment on board.
